I played EDH for the first time yesterday with my own deck (I had just bought the Anowon "Sneak Attack" commander deck). Don't know if this is a local thing, but the people that come to my local store apparently only play decks with infinite combos or combos that instantly win the game (like drawing their whole deck with that one Jace planeswalker on the battlefield).

In EDH, you have three opponents, which potentially triples the number of attacking creatures. This means your Palliation Accord will charge up counters regardless of who's being attacked. If you simply take your fair share of attackers, you're getting 3x the counters and 3x the protection.

Out of all the "Apex" creatures, Vadrok by far looked the coolest to me. With the new mutate ability, I can get back spells from my graveyard upon mutation so I can cast multiple cheap spells to pump up my commander. My creatures are broken up into 3 main categories: 1) token generation 2) spell recursion 3) damage. [[High Tide]] is making a comeback with Vadrok with combos such as High Tide + [[Snap]] + Vadrok/Drakkis, or High Tide + any bounce spell that has a secondary effect like [[Winds of Rebuke]] + [[Cloud of Faeries]] + Vadrok/Drakkis. I included only a few additional mutate creatures since most aren't EDH-effective, but it is still useful to reactivate Vadrok's ability while he is already on the battlefield (especially at instant-speed thanks to flash mutate shark and octopus).
